RTD Transit Center Bicycle Shelter

The Transit Center Bicycle Shelter is set to open in late 2014.

Not only will the shelter provide a safe facility for commuters to store their bikes, it will serve as a very visible symbol of the changing approach to transportation planning in Boulder, CO. More people are enjoying the freedom that comes with combining cycling and transit. Bringing a bike along puts more destinations within reach and gives transit riders with "last mile" challenges an additional option. Soon commuters will be able to purchase a yearly membership to keep their bicycle in a safe, reliable bike shelter, adding some much needed connectivity to Boulder’s transportation system.Once completed, the overall Bike Shelter will hold 266 bikes, lockers and a small area for minor repairs. Located at the 14th Street RTD Transit Station, the system will provide secure bike storage for commuters who want to cycle through Boulder once they arrive from "feeder" cities like Louisville, Longmont and Broomfield.

Shelter features include:

  • Secured, limited card key access.

  • Parking for up to 266 bikes (fully enclosed bike parking 144 bikes).

  • 24-hour camera surveillance.

  • Work stand and tools for minor bike repairs.

  • Bicycle vending machine.
