Construction in the Age of Social Distance
The Silos Wellness Center is well on its way to completion, estimated for early August 2020. The whole team has worked hard to keep this project moving and on schedule, particularly in these strange times. Weekly Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings assure that nothing falls through the cracks. The superintendent on-site provides monthly drone photographs from the sky, presenting a great view of the building’s progress. Additionally, the construction team is available to FaceTime whenever necessary.
Fransen Pittman General Contractors takes safety very seriously. Anyone who is on the site is required to wear the standard hardhat and safety vest, and new safety measures have been implemented that also require a facial covering at all times. Social distancing is strictly enforced, and anyone who is on site is required to keep the standard six feet between themselves and others. Fransen Pittman has also installed handwashing stations for anyone to use, and every few hours the office trailer, other facilities and equipment is wiped down with bleach.
Fransen Pittman regularly checks in with all the subcontractors as well as any materials coming to the site to ensure there are no delays in the future, and that all materials are arriving on time.
The owner, Sopher Sparn Architects and Fransen Pittman General Contractors are all very excited to welcome this new build to Lafayette, which will provide existing businesses in the community with a new space for yoga, Pilates, massage/acupuncture, and personal training. We love designing projects associated with health and wellness.

Her most recent visit featured a look at the newly-installed glued-laminated timber (left) and almost completed tongue-and-groove ceiling. Fransen Pittman’s monthly drone photographs (top) give the team a unique perspective on this exciting project’s progression.
