Carefree Cottage
The Carefree Cottage is located adjacent to the Highland Lawn Historic District. The home was originally constructed as a 1920’s miner’s cabin and has seen numerous updates since. The most recent renovation by Sopher Sparn Architects had an interest in maintaining the historic charm of the property, while introducing a contemporary aesthetic to the interior and addition to the back of the house. The renovations focus on views of the Foothills and Mount Sanitas, adding a spacious kitchen and family room, a large outdoor living area with an attached modern pergola, and a second-story balcony extending from the expansive new Owner’s Suite. The white oak ceiling in the Owner’s Suite runs continuous out to the balcony, directing the eye to the Foothills view beyond. Our client worked closely with Red Pepper Interior Design to select playful, expressive materials that complement the client’s eclectic furniture and artwork.
