We are happy to announce that Phase II of Washington Village is now complete. The Broadway Building, the largest and most complex structure in the co-housing community has 12 units, four of them being permanently affordable, and many co-housing features including a community kitchen, common area living room, guest suite, workout space and outdoor patio space, as well as two commercial units.

In addition to the Broadway Building, the community has six single-family homes and seven multi-family buildings and incorporates the adaptive reuse of a historic school building. The most unique aspect of Washington Village is that it’s considered a co-housing community, meaning that its an intentional community created of privates space but featured shared spaces to encourage relationships with your neighbors.

Cohousing residents connect with each other regularly at community meals, or whenever they’re sitting around the common fireplace, or working in the woodshop, art room, or community garden.

Residents might encounter each other on a garden pathway and decide to walk downtown for some fun.  In cohousing, connecting with neighbors doesn’t have to be scheduled.  It just happens.

There’s a workout room as well in the Broadway Building that is perfect for small classes and exercise groups. All Washington Village residents are welcome to use this space.

The Broadway Building consists of 12 residential units. Here’s a one bedroom unit with studio space that is currently for sale. We love the modern interiors of these units. From the cabinetry to the flooring and natural light, this unit is a gem.

Thirteen years in the making, Washington Village has been designed according to LEED-ND criteria, incorporates rooftop solar and ground source heating systems and will be a national model for environmentally responsible, sustainable neighborhood development. Associated permanently affordable housing meet City of Boulder Housing Division requirements include the provision of multiple permanently affordable for-sale residences built in five different structures across the property.
